Open Water Diver Course...
Join the world of Scuba Diving by taking the Open Water Diver Course! At Eco Pacific Diving, we believe the best way to learn to dive, is to dive. With 6 hours of pool time, and SIX ocean dives, students receive two more dives than most other shops provide for the same course. This gives you more time to perfect your skills before finishing the course!
Diving in Vancouver means diving in relatively cold waters. This is why we include the Drysuit Diver specialty course in our open water diver program. Diving comfortably is just as important as diving well!
Finally, our emphasis on diving is safety, comfort, skill, and eco friendly dive practices. From the beginning we will emphasise these aspects of diving that are extremely important to your success as a new diver.

What to expect?
- Prerequisites- Must be able to complete a swimming fitness test consisting of a 200 Meter swim without equipment and a 10 minute survival float on the surface of the water with your head staying out of the water. This will occur in the pool on the first day of training.
- Paperwork– Register and fill out the General Liability and Medical Release forms. If these forms are not completed you will be unable to dive. You will be prompted to fill them out upon registration as well.
Knowledge Training– First, your instructor will send you a code for your e-learning to complete before the open water training. There will be a final exam at the end of the e-learning which you will then go over with your instructor. This will occur in a video call or in person before the open water training. E-learning takes approximately 10-15 hours to complete.
Pool sessions– You will undergo skill training using scuba equipment. There is a total of 6 hours of pool training which may occur in one session or over two sessions. We will cover all the basic scuba skills. We can arrange another pool session if necessary.
- Open Water Session– Once all pool and knowledge training is completed, you will have 6 open water dives to complete you Open Water and Drysuit course. Open water is where you will prove your competency with your basic scuba skills. These dives will occur over three days starting early in the morning to ensure parking. Please pack food and water and bring warm clothes or an undergarment to wear under your drysuit.
Certification– Upon successful completion you will be a certified diver and be able to dive anywhere in the world!
Cancellation or Rescheduling– Pool cancellations or rescheduling will incur a $100 fee. Open Water cancellations or rescheduling will incur a $50 fee.
