Rescue Diver Course...

The Rescue Diver Course is a fairly intense course that covers an array of skills. These include stress prevention, self rescue, buddy rescue, diver injuries, diver first aid, oxygen administration review, and much more. Becoming a rescue diver is not easy and should be taken quite seriously. It could be up to you to prevent a potentially fatal situation from occurring.

With that said, the rescue course is generally viewed as the best course to take after your Open Water course. It gives you further insight into the risks involved with diving and makes you a better diver.

What to expect?

  • Prerequisites– Must be Open Water and Drysuit certified with recent cold water experience. You must also show proof of 40 logged dives. In addition, you must have current CPR, First Aid, and Oxygen Provider.
  • Paperwork– Sign up and fill out the General Liability and Medical Release forms. If these forms are not completed you will be unable to dive. You will be prompted to fill them out upon registration as well.
  • Knowledge Training–  First, your instructor will send you a code for your e-learning to complete before the open water training. There will be a final exam at the end of the e-learning which you will then go over with your instructor. This will occur in a video call or in person before the open water training. E-learning takes approximately 8-10 hours to complete.

  • Pool Session– You will have one pool session to go through rescue skills in a confined location.
  • Open Water Session– You will then have four open water dives to practice your rescue skills. There is actually very little diving happening and much more skill training. We will do most of our training in shallow waters. The training will occur over two days starting early in the morning to ensure parking.  Please pack food and water and bring warm clothes or an undergarment to wear under your drysuit.
  • Certification– Upon successful completion you will be a Rescue Diver! The rescue diver course is a prerequisite in moving on to Master Diver and professional diving.
